Ombre is this week's theme for the challenge from Persimon Dreams. I immediately thought about these hot pads. I've done them in different colours before, but never like this, from light to dark. So fun to dig in my bag with blue scraps to find all these treasures. The quilt is 7"x11".

My first finish for the new year is the first Project Quilting challenge from Persimon Dreams. The challenge was mythical creatures, and I really find a snowman mythical. He is standing there one day, and the next he could be totally disappeared.
I made a home for the snowman, and the dinosaur is watching him. I hope he's not cooling down everything put on him, as this is a hot pad, Size; 7"x11".

Hourglass is this week's challenge from Persimon Dreams. I made four blocks and found a nice background fabric for this project. A new hot pad is made, 7 1/2" x 11". The little mouse is studying the result.

New challenge from Persimon Dreams this week, sky colours. From my window I can watch the sky change its colours all the time. It's beautiful, and I can never get tired of watching. So I was inspired to make this quilt from my scraps.

It's that time of the year again, Project Quilting with Kim and Trish on Persimon Dreams has started. The first theme is BIRDHOUSE. And as I still have lots of scraps, I'll go scrappy.
Outside my window in a tree I'm feeding birds. It's so interesting to sit down and watch all the different birds coming in to get some food these cold days. In the summer we have a birdhouse in a bigger tree across the road. So here it is, my 7"x11" little quilt made this week.
Inspired by a book was the challenge this week on the blog Persimon Dreams. I actually chose a book I'd love to read. I once started it, but never finished, but now it's the time to do that.
The book is "In the Time of the Butterflies" of Julia Alvarez, based on a true story about 4 sisters describing their life under a cruel dictator.
I put butterflies both on the front and back of my little quilt this week. Size 7"x11". And as we have snow again, I also think of a Norwegian song "Sommerfuggel i vinterland" (Butterfly in Winterland) from the singer Halvdan Sivertsen.

One of the challenges from Persimon Dreams every year is a quilt block. This year it's called "54-40 or Fight". I've seen this block before, but didn't know the name. On her blog you can find out more about the challenge and you can also read more about the background for naming this block.
This week I made a simple two colour little quilt, sized 7" x 11". I often use black and white bindings for these little hotpads, but this time I chose the blue one.

This week is the first blog hop this year from Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks. And you're going to see so many beautiful blue quilts and ideas for things to make. For me January has been almost all blue what comes to quilting. So fun, as Carla challenged us to show you our winter blues.
I made this little hot pad. I love making these small house quilts, 7" x 11". You can see the chickens have left the building.

I'll show you some of my other blue projects this month. This is the one I made for Project Quilting.
I'm participating in a QAL where we make houses. And all my houses are blue. This is one of my houses, and there will be at least 16 in the end.
As always in blog hops I make pincushions. This time I had some beautiful selvages to make them from. It ended up with four, and my Crazy bird is looking after them. Luckily he's blue also.

On the blog Persimon Dreams this week the challenge is all about pink. I found my plastic bag with pink scraps and started sewing. I had a beautiful pink pincushion to put in the middle of this little quilt. The quilt is 7"x11". There is still time for you to make a quilt for the challenge before the deadline tomorrow.

Another fun round of challenges from Persimon Dreams has started, this first one of the year with the theme 1-one. I made this little hot pad or place mat in one colour from the tiniest scraps in my scrap bin. This is also my first post on the blog for 2023. Scraps are also number one go-to for me when making quilts. So here it is, my 7 1/2" x 11 1/2" monochromatic quilt.

At the beginning of the month I found a little block longing to become something. I took a picture, and then I put it away. This last week I tried to find it, but didn't do until yesterday. It was quite easy to make the block a little bigger, and quilt it. Some hand sewing this morning, and I have a useful mug rug.
