Nye brikker

I det siste har jeg sydd flere nye brikker. Elsker slike kortvarige prosjekter innimellom alle de som tar måneder og år.

I've made some new hot pads last week. So happy to finish something, as many of my projects are taking months and years.

Måtte bare sy litt på symaskinen. Det ble en ny brikke med jarekanter, så nå har jeg to.

I had to use my sewing machine today. It ended up with a new selvage mug rug, so now I've got 2. As I've not finished much this month, this must be my favorite.

Selvages

I love to use every inch of my fabrics. And selvages are so pretty. For a challenge at Curated Quilts I've made this little mini quilt. The challenge was "Well said". And as you may understand, I've called my quilt "Read between the seams".

Project Quilting 10-5 Abecedarius

A quilt with texting was this week's challenge from Persimon Dreams. I love selvages, and I've named my quilt: Made in Norway, as you may understand. Size 18x28 cm. From Sunday evening it's possible to vote for your favorites.

Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop and giveaway

When Bea asked me if I had old quilt books, I had to admit I have plenty. So fun to be challenged to make something from one of them. And I can recommend looking through your own old quilt books. So many fun ideas to get from them.

Today is the first day of the blog hop, and it's my day. My choice is a book from a Norwegian quilter, Grete Gulliksen Moe. It's actually an art book showing many of her brightest quilts, with no precise patterns. But I had seen a beautiful place mat there, and wanted to make two for ourselves. So I just sketched up a pattern and started out really scrappy. I was so happy with the result, and now we have place mats at home, at last.

It's possible to use as a runner too.

There's a GIVEAWAY too, and as usual, I'll give away a pincushion, and I'll throw in a roll of beautiful batik fabrics from Island Batik. Just comment and tell me if you have a favorite colour. For me it varies, and just now it's blue, as you might have understood. I'll draw a winner on Saturday.

# Project Quilting 10 - 2

Every year in January/February there are challenges on the blog Persimon Dreams. Every other Sunday we're given a theme, and are supposed to make a quilt during the next week. I couldn't participate in the first challenge, as I was not at home. But this week I had to jump in. The challenge was to use only red, white and blue. I actually made a hashtag. It's 12"x12" and can be use in my breadbasket or as a little tablecloth.

I starten på hvert år gir Kim på bloggen Persimon Dreams oss utfordringer annenhver søndag. Nytt tema hver gang, og vi må sy og gjøre ferdig en hel quilt på en uke. Hoppet over første utfordringen, da jeg ikke var hjemme ved symaskinen.Denne uken er utfordingen å bare bruke rødt, hvitt og blått. Så da sydde jeg rett og slett en hashtag. Den er ca. 30x30 cm, og kan brukes i brødfatet eller som en liten duk.

Whimsical and wonky with Island Batik

Last finish this year is my whimsical and wonky Island Batik project. I had another project, but didn't manage to finish it as I wanted. Have to change something, and I'll show you next year.

 

I used double Hobbs batting inside, and Aurifil brown thread for the applique in this hot pad.
All materials in this project is given me by Island Batik.

Starstruck with Island Batik

The challenge for all Island Batik Ambassadors in September was to sew something using stars. I've been away or occupied almost all September, but this last week I played with these beautiful batiks from a line called "Check it out". Just look at those colours. Click the link and see more of this line. And then I had to try the black solid. I didn't really know that batiks came as solids, until I was sent this fabric from Island Batik.

All fabrics and thread used in this project is given me by Island Batik and partner Aurifil.

 I love to make table runners, and this one is 13"x40". I like how these wonky stars came out. This evening I put on the binding and hand sewed it to the back side.

I also made some other stars earlier this month. They were just perfect for some nice pincushions.

And there are more stars. I'm really starstruck this month. Remember the fabric rolls I gave to my German friends in May? One of the girls made this Dresden plate star. Isn't it beautiful?
