Closing windows

I have twelve windows to close here, and the second was closed yesterday. There are 49 hexies in every diamond shaped window, and all hexies are 1/4". I've made the two flowers for the next windows today.

Needle, paper, scissors with Island Batik

The October challenge from Island Batik is to sew something paper pieced. As I'm a hexielover it had to be hexies for me. So this is what I came up with.

Please note: The Island Batik fabrics featured in this post were given to me for use in my role as an Island Batik Ambassador. I used Aurifil Thread for piecing, and HOBBS batting cotton.

I started out with 53 hexagons, size 1/2". Most of those fabrics are from the line Petting Zoo.

I used Hobbs cotton batting, and blue Aurifil Thread for the quilting.

I can use this pouch for thread, or for my hexies. Perfect for bringing with me when I travel.

Secondary pattern with Island Batik

This month the challenge from Island Batik was a bit difficult. Secondary pattern isn't something I've been thinking of a lot. But after some searching on the web, I think I found out what it means. I've used one wonky block for making this quilt, but in the end you can't even see the original block.

I'm lucky to be an Island Batik Ambassador, and all fabrics in this project is given me by Island Batik. I've also used Aurifil thread, two different greens and Hobbs batting, Heirloom cotton 80/20. The quilting is done by Sølvis Quiltestudio.

The size of this quilt is 37"x37", and the beautiful green batik is from the Petting Zoo line, just now coming to a shop near you. Please come back the 17th August to see my quilt showing you all the fabrics from Petting Zoo.

Green squares with scrappy triangles in the corners.

I joined four blocks together to some sort of a snowball block.

I could have used this block too.

It's quilted with light green Aurifil thread on top, and a darker on the back side.

Island Batik box 2

This time I didn't have to wait more than some extra days to have my Island Batik box. I was just leaving my house for the weekend when the box was delivered. I had to take an extra hour at home to look into it and take some pictures. Thanks a lot to Island Batik and partners Aurifil and Hobbs for all these goodies.

A big box, and I could nearly manage to hold it while taking the photo.

So many beautiful foundation fabrics.

These are called "Check it out", and you really should.

Paisley Dot Brights

Another stack, Vintage Morris.

You can find basics or solids too. I didn't even know that.

The neutrals are just beautiful. This is called Moo Milk.

This is the surprise fabrics coming later this year. I can't show you just now.

Hobbs Heirloom cotton batting.

Hobbs Tuscany cotton and wool blend.

I've never tried Hobbs wool batting. Exciting.

Aurifil green in all different weights to try out.

Info about the Aurifil Thread and a useful bag telling me that they are 10 years this year.

And last, but not least; Indigo Morris 2 1/2" stripes with matching fabrics.

Playful pillows with Island Batik

May has been a fantastic, busy and warm month for me. But it's slowing down, and I used these last days to make this pillow. I've had plans for this big pillow for years, and now was just the right time. It's really big, 80x80 cm. I can even use it on a bed instead of a cover.

Most of the fabrics I've used for this is Pumpkin Patch. I used Hobbs batting for an even softer upside, and certainly Aurifil Thread, both for the piecing and the quilting. All materials given me by Island Batik.
