OMG for January finished

With the help from Elm Street Quilts and One Monthly Goal  I was able to finish this quilt I started last year. Actually it's a scrap challenge from Persimon Dreams. I'm also happy for my longarm quilter Sølvi Quiltestudio who quilted it so nicely. As you may understand I've had fun in the snow with my quilt. You can see that at the beginning of the month this was a pile of blocks. Size: 53"x68" or 135x173 cm.

Christmas cards

Some days ago I found patterns for these beautiful paper pieced trees at GillyMac Designs. I had tried to find a design to make Christmas cards, so this was perfect. Now for writing and sending them.

Mini Madness runner

My second Mini Madness project as an Island Batik Ambassador isn't any April Fools, even if it's a day late. English paper piecing takes time, but today it's finished. It's made of half hexagons, and the pattern is my own. Here you can find a tutorial and some other colours I've tried. Please show me if you try this pattern. Here you can see all the other quilts made for this challenge.

Det andre mars-prosjektet mitt som  ambassadør for Island Batik er ingen aprilspøk, selv om det er en dag forsinket. EPP, engelsk papirsøm, tar tid, men jeg ble ferdig. Denne løperen er sydd av halve sekskanter, og mønsteret er mitt eget. Her finner du en framgangsmåte og andre farger jeg har prøvd ut med dette mønsteret. As an Island Batik Ambassador we have lots of fun every month. The challenge this month was paper piecing. I work with an EPP project, as I love hexagon quilting. Tomorrow you can find that project on my blog. But I was tempted to make a paper pieced tulip block, and today I made it into a sweet book cover.

Som ambassadør for Island Batik får vi utfordringer hver måned. Denne måneden skal vi sy papirsøm. Ettersom jeg elsker å sy sekskanter, startet jeg et slikt prosjekt straks jeg fikk disse flotte stoffene. Dette arbeidet er enda ikke ferdig, men jeg håper å få det ferdig og på bloggen i morgen. Måtte jo også prøve litt annen papirsøm, og falt for denne tulipanblokken. Det ble til et nydelig boktrekk.

I picked these beautiful Island Batik fabrics for this project. I didn't know that batiks came in such fantastic colours before.

Aurifil Thread is a perfect match for these fabrics, and you'll find it in whatever colour you may need.

Har forbindelser til Tyskland gjennom flere av mine quilteprosjekter. Denne flotte papirsømblokken kom jeg over via en tysk bloggvenninne. Jeg fant mønsteret her, og måtte bare prøve. Du kan se flere versjoner av denne ved å klikke på linkene nederst i denne posten. Jeg har forminsket mønsteret til å passe størrelsen på en nålepute. Det ble ganske smått, kan man vel si.

I'm connected to Germany through different quilting projects. This beautiful paper pieced block I found through a blog friend. I found the pattern here, and I certainly had to try it. You may see different versions by clicking the links below. I made the pattern much smaller than the original, because I wanted it the size of a pincushion. It was pretty small.

Biprodukt

Da jeg holder på med mange store og langvarige prosjekter, så er det flott innimellom å sy noe smått som blir fort ferdig. Her sydde jeg en bie på papir, og nå har jeg fått plassert den utenpå et boktrekk. Tror jeg må sy flere slike nå som jeg har funnet ut hvordan jeg skal gjøre det.

I have many longtime projects, and in between I have to make smaller things. Great to have some finishes too. I made a paper pieced bee some time ago, and now I put it on the front of this bookcover.

Bi-aktivitet

Når jeg endelig har fått meg ny symaskin, så måtte jeg prøve et papirmønster. Bien er hentet fra Amy - Badskirt. Nå gjenstår bare å brodere antennene, så får jeg se hva jeg bruker dette til etterhvert.

With my new sewing machine I had to try paper piecing, and found this bee on Amy's blog (Badskirt). Great way to use my scraps. Now I have to embroider the antennas, and then I have to find a good way of using this hexagon.
