Onethingwithamy

Every week I try do finish, or at least go a step further, on a UFO with the help of Amy. This week I finished a new scrappy house hot pad.

These pincushions I've made this month. Do you know that I love pincushions?

Liten quilt

This week I was tempted to be a part of #onethingwithamy on Instagram. Amy is challenging us to finish, or at least do some progress, on an ongoing project. I had a house block, and decided to make it into a new hot pad.

This was what I started with on Monday.

In April I made this needle case to Bea in her pincushion swap. I had to find something new, as I've sent her so many pincushions before. If you need ideas for a new pincushion, you surely can find it by clicking the link.

Tusen takk Bea.

Bea also was my partner for April, and sent me this beautiful pincushion, the sweet bee, and a book about pincushions. Thank you so much Bea.

Brikke

I had to use my sewing machine today. It ended up with a new selvage mug rug, so now I've got 2. As I've not finished much this month, this must be my favorite.

# Project Quilting 10 - 2

Every year in January/February there are challenges on the blog Persimon Dreams. Every other Sunday we're given a theme, and are supposed to make a quilt during the next week. I couldn't participate in the first challenge, as I was not at home. But this week I had to jump in. The challenge was to use only red, white and blue. I actually made a hashtag. It's 12"x12" and can be use in my breadbasket or as a little tablecloth.

Black and white blog hop and giveaway

I had to jump into this blog hop because I love black and white fabrics. And when Carla on Creatin' in the Sticks is hosting blog hops, it's always great fun. So I found the black and white scrap bag and started cutting. Hope the pictures tell you how much fun this has been. If you visit Carla, you'll find giveways, and at the end of this post I have a little givaway too.

Here in Tuesday's post I give away a pincushion with beautiful colours. You have still time to be in the draw for that one. Today I made a black and white pincushion with a pocket. If you like to win this one, just tell me in a comment you'd like to be in the draw. I'll draw a winner for both pinnies on February 2nd.
WINNER: Birthe Marie

Thanks to Carla for hosting this great blog hop.
Here is the list of the other participants.

Getaway blog hop with Island Batik

Finally it's my turn to show you what I did for this blog hop. I have named the finished quilt "Heading west", and that's actually what I did, after a mini holiday with my daughter and her family east in Norway. This is also my last quilt as an Island Batik Ambassador. Thank you to Island Batik and all my fellow ambassadors for all the joy and friendship you've brought me the last two years.

At the end of this post it's also a giveaway from Island Batik, as well as an extra giveaway from me.

The Island Batik fabric line I worked with is called Bazaar, and I really love the colours.

All fabrics used in this project are given me by Island Batik.

I love to sew log cabin, and to make a change I just made half logs this time. Here's my fabrics all cut up and ready to sew. I used absolutely all the different fabrics I got.

I used Aurifil Thread for piecing and quilting. I thought this spool would last forever, but now I have to find a place to buy a new one soon.

My longarm quilter Sølvi did a fantastic job, and we chose green thread for the quilting. Look at those swirls. Hobbs batting cotton 80/20 is perfect, and a choice I often do.

I love these fabrics and the finished quilt. I can feel the spring right around the corner when I look at it. But just now we have winter and snow. Enjoy the photos on a sunny snow day, Size 54"x72".

There's a giveaway on Island Batik's blog. Click and win beautiful fabrics. I have an extra giveaway too. If you tell me in a comment that you're interested, you'll be in the draw for this pincushion with a pocket. It's made of fabrics from Island Batik. There will be some fabric squares as well in the envelope. I'll draw a winner on February 2nd.

WINNER: Allison

I recommend visiting my fellow ambassadors to see their beautiful quilts.
