Flere gule blokker

Tre nye gule blokker denne uken for RSC. Kjekt å sy EPP trekanter.

Three new yellow blocks for RSC this week. So nice to sew EPP triangles. Inspiration from another linked blog last week.

Island Batik December challenge

I'm a real scrap quilter. And as the challenge for the Island Batik ambassadors this month was to make a scrappy runner or table top, it was just perfect for me. I took all my red batiks, and figured out a pattern so that I could use almost every little piece of my scraps. I'll come back tomorrow with a little tutorial on how I made the blocks for this runner.

The quilting is done with Aurifil thread. That went like a dream.

I didn't have enough batik for the back side, but I found a beautiful red cotton fabric.

Finished size is 16"x43 ".

I was so happy with this block that I also made a blue one of the beautiful batiks from Island Batik. You can see more of their fabrics if you click the link.

Nåleputer og symapper

Fikk tid til å sitte litt med symaskinen idag. Og da får jeg sydd noen småting ferdig. Dessuten har jeg fått noen fine nåleputer i posten siste ukene.

I had a couple of hours by the sewing machine today, and here is what I made. I love those small pincushions, and also made some new sewing pouches. Two of the pincushions I have sent away, and the last two I got in my mailbox some days ago.

Gryteunderlag

Har sydd denne i går, og handsydd lukkekanten i dag. Kjekt med disse små arbeidene.

I made this hot pad yesterday, and tonight I finished the binding. So lovely to have some small projects, especially since La Passion takes weeks, months and years.

Kjøkkenhåndkle

Slike har jeg sett overalt på Pinterest, og endelig fikk jeg prøvd det selv. Veldig dekorativt på kjøkkenet.

You can find kitchen towels everywhere on Pinterest, and today was the day to make my own. Really cute and decorative, I think.

Små symapper

Disse mappene er flotte venninnegaver eller presanger til ungdom som flytter på hybel. Der kan de oppbevare nål og tråd så de i det minste kan sy i en knapp selv. Og har du ikke for mange trådsneller, er det plass til dem her.

These pouches are so fun to make. And they are perfect to give away to youngsters, with some needles and tread inside. Then they at least can sew on a button. Also nice to give to a friend with some beautiful thread and other goodies in it.

Island Batik October challenge

As ambassadors for Island Batik, the October challenge was to make a quilt with a special border or binding or both. I dicided to make a triangle quilt with just two fabrics. The borders are made swirled in a way. And instead of sewing the binding to the front and handsewing it to the back, I started with the back, turned it and put one of the beautiful seams along the binding. It turned out so well that I'm sure I will do it again. Hope the pictures will show what I did. And I'm happy to have some flowers left here to show you. Good for me, because I don't like winter.

I always sew on paper when I make HSTs.

This is the order of the borders, sewn around the middle as a log cabin.

Perler

Jeg elsker nåleputer, og kaller dem for mine perler. Her kan jeg utnytte den minste flis av et vakkert stoff. Mesteparten av de stoffene jeg har brukt her er små restebiter jeg har fått av en bekjent. Jeg har også fått en ny nålepute i posten i nåleputebyttet hos Bea.

I love pincushions, and they are my diamonds. I can use every little piece of beautiful fabrics. Here I've used small scraps from a friend. And I got a great pincushion to go with my La Passion in my mailbox, in Bea's pincushion swap. Thanks a lot Irene.

Island Batik - Back to School Blog Hop + giveaways

It's blog hop time with Island Batik, with lots of inspiration from all the Island Batik Ambassadors. All September you can find blogposts about different lines of fabrics, ideas, patterns and interesting stories about going back to school. You'll find the list at the end of this blog post. So just sit down and enjoy. And don't forget the giveaways, there are two of them. The fabrics you'll find in your local quilt shops.

What I'm going to present for you today is the Rise & Shine line. Here are the bright fabrics I'm going to use.

As a teacher I know that pupils are coming to school as they are, with different background, shapes, sizes, colors, ways of behaving. That's why I started my quilt with different shapes and sizes. Then we try to give them the best of what we have, try to individualize as well as give them something in common. Hopefully they will end up with skills to live and work together in harmony.
