Island Batik - Back to School Blog Hop + giveaways

It's blog hop time with Island Batik, with lots of inspiration from all the Island Batik Ambassadors. All September you can find blogposts about different lines of fabrics, ideas, patterns and interesting stories about going back to school. You'll find the list at the end of this blog post. So just sit down and enjoy. And don't forget the giveaways, there are two of them. The fabrics you'll find in your local quilt shops.

If you just love beautiful batiks, you have to click Island Batik spring/summer catalog or Island Batik fall/winter catalog. There you will find patterns and good ideas of using these fabrics as well.

What I'm going to present for you today is the Rise & Shine line. Here are the bright fabrics I'm going to use.

As a teacher I know that pupils are coming to school as they are, with different background, shapes, sizes, colors, ways of behaving. That's why I started my quilt with different shapes and sizes. Then we try to give them the best of what we have, try to individualize as well as give them something in common. Hopefully they will end up with skills to live and work together in harmony.

There's a blogpost and giveaway from Island Batik here. I have my own giveaway too, and you can win squares of batik fabrics from Island Batik if you comment before September 29th. You just look at the pictures numbered 1 to 9, and tell me what's your favorite color combo. I'll ship anywhere.

Here's what you can win, 5" squares, 2 from each color. And I'll throw in some neutrals as well. Just enough for a long table runner or a baby quilt.

Aurifil thread is just perfect for quilting. I love this color to match the fabrics.

Now on to the finished quilt. I've been visiting my and my neighbours' gardens to show you what the fall is like in Norway just now. Finished size 38" by 38".

Here is the list showing you where you can find great blogposts about these fantastic fabrics all September. Every day is also a new fabric line to experience. And don't forget the giveaways. Enjoy.
