When we were young

I can remember when I was young all the mothers in the neighborhood stayed at home. Even if our own mother was out of the house for a while, we could go to whatever house with an adult to get a slice of bread or something to drink, or just to talk or play. We were as a big family. Such a safe world. I don't think it's like that any longer, even in Norway.

This is how I remember my mother or neighbors waiting for us after school. Thank you Chris for this challenge on Art Journal Journey.

  3. I remember those days too! We would go out to neighbours and leave the door unlocked. Safe days, happy days! This is absolutely lovely and such a wonderful reminder of those days! An absolutely gem for my AJJ theme, thank you! Chrisx

  5. Turid, this is a great art journal page! I love the stitched line drawing with the fabric scrap dress. And the cat!...showing that it was a party every day for her. LOL. The strip of fabric with buttons is a fun interest detail for the page.

  6. The world has changed, hasn't it? That is so sad too for children now. I am loving this cloth journal piece. You look so happy in your orange dress, and adding the cat is such a good idea. What a fun piece. Thanks for joining us at AJJ for Chris' challenge. I hope you are having a lovely month so far. hugs-Erika

  7. Oh my goodness that is adorable!! I grew up out in the country so we always felt safe but yes, now even out there....you just never know! With today's world, some days I just prefer to "hide" in my sewing room.

  8. I love your art journal piece! It is inspiring me to start a journal again. I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s, and my Mom was always waiting to greet me, sometimes with cookies. :) I remember one time she had to stay in the hospital, and my Dad and brothers and I were lost without her!
I am SO glad you joined us at To Do Tuesday - thank you!
