A single flower, and Project Quilting 12 - 6

Ab intra, or from within, was the last challenge this year for Project Quilting from Persimon Dreams. I struggled a lot with that before I came to a conclusion on what to make. I've admired Annie on Annie's musings, for years. Many ideas have been there inside me, especially when comes to fabric journals. But I never had the courage to make something like that myself. So this is like a birth, coming from within. And I even jumped into the Art Journal Journey for this month's challenge as well, a single flower.

My piece is a frosted flower in the polar night. It's also reminding me that we still have to handle the challenges of the virus we've hanging around. The only way we have had to meet out quilting friends have been through social media. But we're still happy to have the chance to quilt with love. My first art journal page is 14 x 20,5 cm. I had so much fun making it.

  2. Hi Turid! How fun that you have started a fabric art journal! I’m so glad you were inspired to join in the Art Journal Journey challenge with your single flower. It is a wonderful art flower. You sure did captured the polar night. Not so easily done with fabric. The night rainbows are as welcome as your frosted flower for Spring. I love the selvedge you found to include. And that binding is a bright and bold framing. I can’t wait to see what you will add next to your new art journal.

  3. Hello Turid. I am a great fan of Annie's too. How nice to be inspired by her piece and your own piece is so different.
I absolutely love your frosted flower in the polar night, what a lovely theme for a flower. The flower itself is gorgeous with the spiral stitching and the pattern around the edge and the pretty leaves. Nice touch with bears marching along the bottom edge, and the one button and selvedge words and images add to the whole effect.
Thanks very much for showing us this piece for the theme at AJJ and I hope we see you again soon.

  6. This is absolutely gorgeous. You did a great job machine stitching that spiral. That's tough to keep the stitching from overlapping. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Art Journal JOurney. Hugs-Erika

  9. I always love it when someone uses fabric to create a journal page. It happens so seldom, I always sit up and take notice immediately. This is a beautiful art quilt and you did a fabulous job with the sewing, too. That single flower in the polar night was incredible. I loved the way the bears were marching across the bottom, too. This was one fabulous entry and we are simply delighted you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey.
