Vintage

I love challenges, and this month the theme from Art Journal Journey is vintage. As I often work with old fabrics, this was perfect for me. I've chosen some fabrics, buttons and other stuff from my grandmother's clothes and boxes. She was born in 1909, was sewing and weaving, and collected fabrics, buttons and actually everything.

This was a fun page to make, and I might make more of them this month. Soon I have pages enough for a book for myself. Enjoy the page and the details. There's even a secret pocket with a picture of my grandmother and myself from I was just some months old, so long ago.

  2. Fantastic, love the fact that there is so much of your grandma on your page. It would be lovely if you made a book of them. Thank you for sharing with us on Art Journal Journey.

  3. This is a fabulous page. I love these vintage fabric; it's a great combination. And how lucky you are to have these things from your grandmother. One of my grandmothers was also born in 1909. I have her knitting needles, but no fabrics or accessories. This is perfect for Wendy's challenge at Art Journal Journey, and thanks for joining us. Hugs-Erika

  4. As soon as I saw your name, Turid, I got all excited. I knew I was going to see something in fabric. And of course, you didn't disappoint. This is a remarkable journal page. Your grandmother looks SO young. I guess mine was too, but now days we think of grandmothers as older white haired ladies.

I love how you used so many vintage pieces. It's been forever since I've seen snaps still on a card. That is fabulous. Thanks so very much for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Wendy's theme. Once again I'm in awe of this fabric page, dear.

  7. A wonderful page in honor of your grandmother! Our Grannies saved every little thing, didn’t they. So many different fabrics and buttons galore. And snaps on the cards I remember too. Snaps as well as hooks & eyes were used so much more back then than they are now. Always a jar of misc. buttons to play with. I still keep a jar of buttons. What a great idea to tuck in a photo of yourself with your grandmother! A truly treasure of a journal page!
