This is the first day of Don't let the door stop you - blog hop, and it's my day. Thanks to the wonderful Mdm. Samm at Sew we quilt, and Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks for letting me take part in this event. They even made a double blog hop this time, so you should take time to visit, be inspired and learn from all the bloggers taking part. You'll find the schedule for this blog hop underneath the pictures.
I've made a doorstopper for my brother in law. He's an English birdwatcher and birdringer. He would like a doorstopper to put in between the door so it won't slam. To remember where he keeps it when it's not in use as a doorstopper, I made it as a welcome sign to hang on his door. So this is it. Don't you think it will be perfect for him?
I started out with quilting this 14"x16" piece. Then I appliqued these birds and letters, and made a pouch out of it. Inside there is a sand bag wrapped in old fabrics and wadding, to give it weight. On top there is a rice bag he can heat in the micro owen to warm his hands when he's home from the birding. That will be three things in one. Hope he'll like it.
Thank you for stopping by, and welcome back!

Turid, you are so clever to make it a 3 in one door stop. Birds for the bird watcher and the colors are great for a man. Putting the rice bag to warm and keep his hands warm is so smart. A door stop that is welcoming. Great project.
