Project Quilting 12-4

Snail's trail is the challenge from Persimon Dreams this week. I've never tried this block before actually. So I had to find out of it. And after some ripping, I understood how it worked. I saw some elephants in the block, but couldn't figure out how to show them. So here's my entry named: Where did the elephants go? I keep to the same size, that is 7"x11".

  1. Fun photo shoots! Like the amaryllis and the beribboned twigs the best. All pretty though. I have never done a snail trail either! Good job!

  2. That turned out beautifully, Turid!! What is your plan for the 7 x 11" quilt?

  3. I like your elephant trunks block. It reminded me of something I had done years ago. My group had a challenge to use gray plus one (other color) in a piece. I was going to try to make an elephant, but my friend urged me to do an abstract, as I usually do. So I named my abstract piece in gray and turquoise "No Elephants Here" It's a little piece and I do love it.

  4. I see the elephant trunks! Love the black background. Black always makes the colors pop.

  7. I've made several quilts based on the snail trail block. You opened my eyes to new possibilities - Elephants. From now on I will only see elephant trunks and smile.

  9. I have not made a snail's Trail quilt block yet myself. I remember years ago a pattern with cats surrounding the blocks so it was their tails!

  10. Love the name of your quilt. I have never seen elephants in this block before. Now I will look for elephants everytime I see this pattern. Usually I call them Monkey's Tails. I once made a large mystery quilt with this block pattern. I certainly was a surprise in the end. Thank you for sharing in my linky party this week ... :) Pat
