Looking Back with Island Batik

The challenge we got as Island Batik Ambassadors this month was "Looking Back" to vintage quilts, and let us be inspired to make something new. As I live in Norway, we have few old quilts to look at. I happened to have the only book made here with registrated old quilts, and found that most of them came from the US, either sent back to Norway from emigrants, or brought back when they returned to Norway on holiday or permanently.

All the materials used here is given me by Island Batik and partners, Hobbs and Aurifil.

I first found this beautiful friendship quilt, found in a garage in California, and taken to Germany, and later to Norway.

Too much work to do this, so I had to dig for another one.

I made a test block, and the rest was pure fun.

Hobbs batting made it soft, perfect for a baby quilt.

I used Aurifil dark brown for the quilting.

The finished size is 40" x 40".
