Needlecase - a tutorial

Some of my readers asked me to make a tutorial for this needlecase I made for the blog hop some days ago. Today I made a new one, and here I've tried to take pictures of the progress. Have fun making one yourself, and please ask me if you don't understand.

Make your pattern on a piece of paper 5"x7".

Cut inside and batting 5"x7". Cut strings length 5".

Sew the strings to the batting until you cover it.

Iron the finished strip quilt block.

Inside and outside, wrong sides together, and quilt as you like.

Pin the pattern, and cut around.

Fold the pattern and cut away 1/2". Now you have pattern for the two pockets.

Pin the two patterns on a folded fabric, and cut out the two pockets.

Sew on the straight edge to make it stronger. No batting inside the pockets.

If you like something attached to the pockets, you have to do it now.

I made a seam around to fasten the pockets before the binding.

Sew the binding on the inside.

Turn and sew down the binding on the outside.

Press.

Sew on  a snap to close the case. A sweet little case you can bring your needles, thread and other hand sewing items in.

  2. Thank you Turid! A super tutorial! I have a pincushion to finish but I really want to make one of these as soon as I can. I can’t wait to show my friends at my handicraft group, I’m sure some of them would like to stitch these!
    Have a lovely weekend!
